OUR TOP TIPS GUIDE FOR PA TEMP JOBS

When it comes to temping we’re always on the lookout for candidates with invaluable transferable skills.

Every single one of our PAs come with their own individual wealth of knowledge and experience that makes them an asset for last minute support. They do an incredible job in the field (imagine doing your job but somewhere completely different and within a different team each week) and still get incredible results.

If you’re thinking about temping as a PA then our top tips for PA temp jobs guide will provide you with the support you need to get started!

1) BE PREPARED

Always make a note of the most important names, numbers and emails on your arrival.

2) FIRST DAY

Work out how to use equipment like the printer, binding machine and laminator. If you know where these are and how to use them before being asked it can save time and stress! The same goes for video conferencing set-ups in meeting rooms – find out if this is part of your role and make sure you know how it all works.

3) QUESTIONS

Try and frame your questions in a way that your bosses can only answer yes or no. This means you get a clear answer and there’s no room for interpretation. You’ll also save time by not asking open-ended questions.

4) BE PROACTIVE

Thinking ahead and pre-empting tasks will help you keep on top of things, and setting reminders to do this can help too. You might find that some roles aren’t as busy as you might expect or have experienced, so ask for work and see if other team members need any assistance.

5) FIND SOLUTIONS

If a problem arises, try and think of a few solutions. Turn negatives into positives or at least have some options ready. Your bosses will hugely appreciate this initiative.

6) NOTES

Handover notes are golden. If you don’t have any upon arrival, create them before you leave; whoever’s in the position after you will be so grateful.

7) WHAT TO WEAR

If you’re unsure what the dress code might be for a certain client, always go super smart. It’s better to be overdressed than under-dressed.

8) BE DISCREET

Culture varies from company to company and it’s important to remember that private equity is a small industry where everyone knows everyone. Always remain professional and remember to respect privacy policies, especially as you could be working within numerous companies in the same field.

9) DON’T TAKE ANYTHING PERSONALLY

It’s not you, we work in a high-pressure environment where things change incredibly quickly and stress levels are high. Try and remain calm under the pressure – this will help you and your colleagues out.
