Jossie Jolly 2022
For the last 10 years (with a two-year break for Covid) we’ve gone away for a long weekend as a team somewhere abroad – a trip we affectionately call the Jossie Jolly. We’ve been to Portugal, skiing and to Ibiza – and Italy was the destination of choice for 2022.
The Jossie Jolly is an important part of our culture and something the team really looks forward to. Where we go is linked to a commercial target, but the important part is that it’s for the whole team – not just the top billers. As a business we fully support hybrid working, which makes it more important than ever for us to invest time and money in keeping our culture alive. The jolly allows us to spend quality time together, build relationships and have lots of fun.
Creating a brilliant place to work has always been the number one priority for Joss Search and although we’ve grown, our mission hasn’t changed. It takes dedication and commitment from everyone, but it’s worth it. This weekend was testament to that and it was great to spend some quality time together, away from our desks and busy inboxes and celebrate everyone’s hard work and success (and our mutual love of pasta and Prosecco!).

We set off for sunny Sorrento bright and early on Friday morning. The team were pretty chipper for a 3:30am start at Gatwick, and once we’d sank a flat white or two we were truly ready and raring to go.
On arrival in Italy we checked in to a beautiful hotel, left our suitcases and walked to a gorgeous restaurant for lunch, to begin a weekend spent eating, drinking, swimming and chatting in picture perfect settings.
Ben, MD at Joss Search, reflects on the weekend: “It was so good to have our first Jossie trip since 2019 in Sorrento last weekend! It was the biggest Jossie trip to date but, like all the other trips we’ve done, it was genuinely like going away with a bunch of friends rather than a group of colleagues. Given we have lots of new faces this is no mean feat and testament to continuing to hire great people that align with our values. It also emphasised the importance of continuing to invest in the company culture especially now that we’re working hybrid.”
‘Positive culture’ are words we hear a lot – both from our clients talking about their workplaces and candidates identifying their priorities; it was certainly something very important to me when I was considering new opportunities and I count myself very fortunate to be working somewhere that matches my idea of what this should look like. It wasn’t a case of celebrating top billers or certain teams, it was celebrating the contribution that every single Jossie makes to create an environment where our values are brought to life. I may be about 50% mozzarella now but from 3am airport starts to delicious lunches sat under orange trees, drinks around the swimming pool and rooftop dinners, I would say that everything we stand for was in evidence.
Jessica Norton, Principal Consultant, Alternative Investments
Zoe Walker has recently joined us as a Consultant in our New York office, so the Sorrento trip was a perfectly timed opportunity to meet the wider team. “I had a great introduction to Joss Search over the weekend, spending an amazing few days with the team in Sorrento. It was lovely to be able to get to know everyone in such a relaxed and sunny(!) setting. It definitely made it easier to chat to my new colleagues one to one and get to know them better as people as well as recruitment rockstars. Everyone was so welcoming and inclusive; I truly feel part of the team and I’ll miss seeing everyone in person when I get back to NYC!”
